Press Team
Consider joining the Pennex family as a member of the Press Team in our Leetonia, OH location. The Press Team member plays a crucial role in manufacturing processes by operating and maintaining an aluminum extrusion press to produce a variety of metal products.
About the role
This position works a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on rotating days and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Machine Setup: Prepare and set up an aluminum extrusion press by installing and adjusting dies, molds, or tooling. Ensure proper alignment and functionality of components.
- Material Preparation: Load materials, such as metal billet, into the press machine. Verify that the materials meet quality specifications and are positioned correctly.
- Machine Operation: Operate an aluminum extrusion press to initiate and control the production process. Monitor machine operations, such as feeding materials, adjusting settings, and regulating speed to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Quality Control: Inspect in real time for defects, such as irregular shapes, incorrect measurements, or imperfections. Use measuring tools, visual inspections, or automated systems to ensure products meet required specifications.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on an aluminum extrusion press, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn-out or damaged components. Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment. Operate machines in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself and others. Identify and report any potential safety hazards or equipment issues.
- Production Monitoring: Monitor production output and ensure machines are operating efficiently. Adjust machine settings as necessary to optimize production rates and minimize waste.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, downtime, material usage, and any issues encountered during the production process. Complete required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
- Training: May eventually train the Press Apprentice in duties and responsibilities of the Press Team by communicating and demonstrating the position's processes and procedures.
- Report issues to: Foreman and Lead Person.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional technical or vocational training in machine operation or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with operating press machines, reading technical drawings or instructions, and using measuring tools preferred.
- Previous extrusion press experience or in a similar manufacturing environment preferred.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment.

- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorships are not available.
