About the role
The Grand Island Independent is hiring a full-time press operator to join their team. This position operates the printing press to publish the Grand Island Independent and other regional newspapers and commercial print jobs due to expansion.
Responsibilities
- Loading newsprint
- Making pasters
- Monitoring reel stands
- Sets ink densities, registration, fills ink fountains
- Sets folders, plate making
- Maintains a safe and clean press area
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work night shifts as needed
Qualifications
- Previous printing press experience and/or manufacturing experience is preferred
- Training will be provided to those who show aptitude
