Press Operator Trainee (86278)

Responsibilities

• Check Gill Process Specifications against work order instructions
• Assist Loads and unloads press
• Understand the basic function of the press
• Affix loads after pressing
• Inspect panels for correctness and inform Operator or supervisor of any noncompliance
• Record material usages and pressing conditions
• Identify each panel with serial number and document all traceability information on the shop planner
• Check material tags for proper materials
• Set up pressing conditions per GPS instructions
• Operate press 2, 6, 11, 15, 30, and 31 to manufacture quality panels and liners
• Check panel/liner thickness using a micrometer to ensure it’s within the tolerance
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Utilize hand and power tools as needed to perform duties
• Report any defective materials or questionable conditions to the Operator, Lead or Supervisor

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• One or two years of related experience and/or training a plus but not required
• Acceptable Spirometry Test results (full/half respirator use)
• Available to work any shift, over-time and weekends
• Able to work in a team environment, ie follow instructions
• Bend, Twist, and Stand for 8-10 hours a day in extreme heat or cold
• Use hands for simple and power grasping as well as push/pull and fine manipulation
• Accurate in basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels of the organization
• Able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
