About the Role

The Production department is responsible for the fabrication of raw materials to manufacture quality Mission Critical Group products. The Press Break Operator engages in all activities concerned with producing parts by operating a CNC machine, ensuring jobs are completed and shipped as scheduled while meeting quality standards. This role supports the effort to be a best-in-class manufacturer through the fabrication of high-quality products that exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Operate Punch Press or Break Press machines to cut holes or bend materials for product fabrication.
• Retrieve punch lists, parts lists, and applicable CNC programs to create parts per job requirements.
• Locate, move, and pull raw sheet metal material as described by the parts list.
• Load materials onto the machine and safely secure them using clamps, fingers, or other fixtures.
• Select die clearance, punches, tools, or other attachments based on material specifications; install and align them for optimal performance.
• Coordinate with other CNC Operators to enter commands or adjust machine controls to correct errors, especially while operating the break press.
• Monitor machines and control panel displays to ensure correct operation.
• Measure finished products using tools such as calipers and protractors to ensure they meet requirements.
• Stage completed parts for the next phase of fabrication.
• Perform scheduled repair and maintenance of machines, including maintaining, sharpening, and replacing tools as necessary.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work area.
• Perform side operations during machine cycle time as required.
• Train with the Bus CNC Foremen to develop skills and learn how to operate both machines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2+ years of sheet metal fabrication or CNC operator experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance (e.g., Trump, Accupress, Allen wrenches, grinders, break press, punch press, forklift, crane, shears, and calipers).
• Excellent mechanical skills and aptitude for supporting CNC sheet metal equipment; ability to visualize 3D parts from cut sheets.
• Good math skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Self-motivated with the ability to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently.
• Strong regard for guidelines, procedures, and integrity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Forklift Certification (preferred).
• Attendance & Punctuality: Maintain a 97% attendance rate with minimal tardiness.
• Teamwork & Communication: Receive positive feedback from team leaders or operators on responsiveness and attitude.
• Continuous Improvement Participation: Actively contribute at least one improvement idea per quarter.
• Safety Compliance: Zero safety violations or incidents; full adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
