Assist the Press Operator in the setup and operation of the Press machine to produce quality production in a safe and timely manner for lamination and finishing departments. Key tasks include servicing removable press components (cylinders, gears, anilox, heads, pans, etc.) and supporting the mounting department with cleaning, stripping, and prepping plates.

Responsibilities

  • Support Operations in the Press Department
  • Assist with plate prepping and cylinder sleeving
  • Maintain housekeeping in press, prepress, and ink waste areas
  • Accurately measure and record anilox volumes after cleaning
  • Drain and clean ink pots and press components
  • Label and palletize finished rolls
  • Acquire and stock necessary operating supplies and materials for press equipment
  • Assist the Press Operator with setups, paperwork, and operation of equipment
  • Train under the Press Operator to ensure efficient, safe, and quality operation of press equipment
  • Identify quality defects and apply knowledge of Work Order specifications
  • Assist with take-down and setup of jobs
  • Clean plates, cylinders, decks, sumps, and anilox rollers
  • Refill and maintain ink supply, including testing ink viscosity
  • Manage all press materials at the machine, including film, inks, and plates
  • Prepare anilox rollers for cleaning, operate cleaning equipment, and complete inspection reports
  • Stage press components and assemble carts with required parts for upcoming jobs
  • Clean ink kits and various parts from the plant
  • Reassemble equipment for the press department
  • Stage equipment on racks press-side for upcoming jobs
  • Break down press equipment for wash tank and disassemble components for cleaning
  • Visually inspect food contact paths during preventative maintenance to ensure no contamination
  • Contact supervisor if contamination is suspected
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality control and safe production

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $20.50 per hour. Base pay may vary within the full salary range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A geographic differential may be applied based on work location.
