Press Assistant - Nights

General Purpose

Aid a team of press operators to ensure quick and efficient make-readies for multicolor flexographic printing presses. Assist with the setup, repair, operation, and maintenance of the press.

Essential Job Functions

• Set up, adjust, maintain, and operate a flexographic press in the absence of an operator.
• Review job tickets and select the proper type and quantity of material.
• Absorb material changeovers.
• Ensure correct materials are present and organized for production runs.
• Clean, lubricate, and make minor adjustments to maintain the quality of production.
• Clean and maintain press equipment (pans, pumps, anilox rolls, etc.), along with general common areas.
• Remove and mount plates when needed.
• Replenish inks and other raw materials as needed.
• Notify supervisors of needed repairs or replacement parts.
• Move loads of printed and unprinted stock when necessary.
• Assist the press operator with preventative maintenance of the press.
• Assist with other printing processes as needed and as directed by supervision.
• Comply with established safety procedures and policies.
• Follow established standard operating procedures.
• Complete required documentation.
• Assemble print cylinders and gears.
• Perform and review line clearance.
• Remove waste from the press area.
• Work with other departments and maintenance personnel on projects and/or validations.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Basic computer skills.
• The ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• The ability to maintain good attendance.
• The willingness to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
• The ability to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
