Founded in 1922, TAB is the state's leading business advocacy organization and the Texas State Chamber of Commerce.

  • Represents thousands of companies across every major industry and region of Texas.
  • Works closely with more than 200 local and regional chambers of commerce, providing a powerful statewide network that elevates local business priorities and advances policies that strengthen economic opportunity throughout Texas.
  • Advocates for policies that promote economic growth, investment, workforce development, innovation, infrastructure development, energy expansion, healthcare affordability, international trade, and long-term competitiveness.
  • Maintains active state and federal advocacy programs and sponsors highly respected political action committees focused on advancing a strong business climate.
  • Serves as a trusted resource for policymakers, employers, community leaders, and chambers of commerce across Texas.

The Role

The President and Chief Executive Officer serves as the chief executive and principal spokesperson for the organization.

  • Advocates for a strategic policy agenda that strengthens Texas' competitiveness and economic growth.
  • Buils and maintains productive relationships with elected officials, policymakers, chambers of commerce, and coalition partners.
  • Provides testimony at legislative hearings, speaks at public forums, and serves as the primary spokesperson with media outlets.
  • Convenes stakeholders and builds coalitions around issues critical to Texas' future.
  • Leads and inspires a high-performing team dedicated to advancing TAB's mission.
  • Fosters a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration, and service.
  • Recruits, develops, and retains talented professionals.
  • Ensures organizational resources are aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Expands membership, engagement, and organizational reach.
  • Strengthens relationships with existing members while cultivating new opportunities for growth.
  • Develops and diversifies revenue streams to support long-term sustainability.
  • Enhances TAB's value proposition and impact across the Texas business community.
  • Partners closely with the Officers and Board of Directors.
  • Maintains sound financial management and organizational oversight.
  • Ensures transparency, accountability, and effective governance practices.
  • Develops and executes strategic plans that advance the organization's mission and objectives.

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for TAB's next chapter of growth and influence.
  • Expand membership and strengthen financial sustainability.
  • Deepen engagement with local chambers of commerce and key stakeholders across Texas.
  • Strengthen organizational capacity and team development.
  • Enhance TAB's position as the leading voice of the Texas business community.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A Texas resident who has:
  • Significant executive leadership experience;
  • A strong understanding of Texas' economic, political, and business landscape;
  • Experience working with boards, volunteer leaders, and diverse stakeholder groups;
  • Established relationships with state lawmakers and Texas business leaders;
  • Demonstrated success in organizational growth, business development, fundraising, or membership development;
  • Experience in public policy, government affairs, or advocacy.
