About the role
This professional sales role supports coverage for uncovered routes, territories, and geographies based on business needs. As the face of PepsiCo in your assigned geography, you will:
- Be the primary territory salesperson for all account types, including convenience and gas stores, small grocery stores, drug stores, dollar stores, supermarkets, and mass merchants.
- Drive revenue share and profit growth through professional selling and managing communications with store owners, managers, and buyers.
- Manage sales in small format and low-volume accounts, including upselling, writing orders, managing inventory, and providing support.
- In large format and higher-volume accounts, lead incremental selling initiatives and collaborate with a team of Merchandisers.
- Develop and motivate a team of Merchandisers on order submission, customer service, display execution, and inventory management.
- Grow and develop customers while ensuring contract compliance, particularly in small format accounts.
- Communicate product needs and incremental displays to Merchandisers for preparation and execution.
- Execute local and national marketplace initiatives and promotions to build brands and maximize performance.
- Collaborate with Key Account Managers, Territory Sales Leads, and Merchandisers to target incremental selling opportunities.
- Sell annual Customer Development Agreements, holiday promotions, and other initiatives in small format accounts.
- Ensure product availability, proper rotation, and appropriate pricing.
- Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings (e.g., 4 am), evenings, and/or weekends.
- Periodically lift up to 40 lbs. as part of work activities.
Requirements
- 18 years or older.
- Must have a car to access multi-store locations within assigned shift.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Indefinite right to work in the United States.
Qualifications
Helpful experience includes:
- Sales/selling (e.g., selling new products, promotions, new points of distribution, making deals, pricing).
- Account management (e.g., meeting sales targets, execution and service, identifying account opportunities, growing existing accounts).
- Business-to-business selling (e.g., making sales calls, building customer relationships, handling complaints).
- Incremental selling (e.g., selling above standard orders, suggesting additional products, upselling).
- Selling beverages and/or consumer products (e.g., making sales calls, filling orders, handling customer problems).
- Financial targets (e.g., achieving volume/sales/revenue targets, responsibility for product breakage).
- Financials (e.g., profit margins, gross profit dollars).
- Fact-based selling (e.g., using retail sales data, industry data, or consumer research to support sales propositions).
- Solutions selling (e.g., understanding customer needs and offering tailored solutions).
- Upskilling or developing others (e.g., providing feedback, training, encouraging performance improvement).
- Customer service (e.g., resolving issues, ensuring communication with store managers, following up on requests).
- Merchandising (e.g., standards, planograms, product displays, stocking/rotating product, back-room organization).
- Managing inventory (e.g., current stock, projected sales, ordering/re-stocking).
- In-store marketing (e.g., POP placement, building creative displays).
- Working under limited supervision (e.g., performing job duties without constant direction).
- Following safety procedures (e.g., proper lifting techniques, safety processes).
- Managing a route (e.g., prioritizing stops, setting schedules, servicing accounts, managing delivery windows).
- Using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Using PepsiCo sales applications including SMARTr and Savvy or similar selling applications.
- Proficiency with P.E.P.S.I and Premier.
