Summary of Program and Position
We believe that every child deserves bright and healthy futures. Early education is crucial during the important developmental period, especially for disadvantaged children. Our programs, including Early Head Start (EHS) and Head Start (HS), provide services in centers and homes to support prenatal parents and children from infancy through age five, addressing both educational and social-emotional needs.
Essential Duties
- Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
- Provides individualized and comprehensive early childhood education services in accordance with federal performance standards and current best practices in the field of early childhood education.
- Provides leadership to classroom staff and assumes all the responsibilities of a supervisor for the staff that report directly to this position.
- Is responsible for ensuring that all participants receive timely and appropriate developmental screenings.
- Obtains, maintains, and coordinates the use of all physical resources available and ensures the maintenance of a safe, healthy, stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning environment that meets licensing and federal standards.
- Is responsible for accurate and complete documentation, maintaining confidentiality of consumer records, and adhering to established standards.
- Plans and conducts monthly lesson planning sessions with classroom staff members.
- Recommends to Area Manager appropriate training and professional development opportunities for program staff and parents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have six (6) months experience as a lead teacher in a licensed Early Childhood Education program or center PLUS one of the following:
- An Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education OR related field that includes coursework equivalent to a major in ECE with experience teaching preschool-age children.
- A Bachelors or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR related field that includes coursework equivalent to a major in ECE with experience teaching preschool-age children.
