Preschool Teacher
FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLFA. Employment is subject to Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines, and the availability of funding. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
About the Role
This is an early childhood team teaching position based in a preschool multi-age grouping at Stony Brook Child Care Services, Inc. (SBCCSI). The goal is to provide high-quality care and education to children ranging in age from three to five years. The Center also serves as a practicum site for undergraduate interns, who will be supervised and mentored by the selected candidate.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Provides daily care and education to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of children in accordance with SBCCSI philosophy.
- Administration: Participates in administrative duties including scheduling, hiring, adapting curriculum, monitoring the condition of the facility, and ensuring the availability of supplies.
- Student Intern Program: Supervises and serves as a role model for undergraduate interns, participates in seminars, and assists in the grading process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One (1) year of related childcare experience.
- Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
- Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher), or
- Credit equivalent (60 credits), or
- Completion of an early childhood accredited course.
- In lieu of the educational requirements, two (2) years of full-time professional experience in the field of Early Childhood will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Experience in a full-day, early childhood setting.
- Experience in a childcare setting.

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $36,000.
