Preschool Teacher

About the role

Catalyst teaches children ranging from toddlers to school age, creating a safe and engaging environment for learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Support children's social emotional development
• Ensure all children are supervised at all times
• Work collaboratively with the teaching team
• Establish and maintain authentic connections with children, youth, families, schools, and communities
• Work within established safety guidelines and report any health and safety issues or incidents

Requirements

• Education: 24 units in child development, early childhood development or related field, plus 16 general education units; AA degree in ECE, CD, or related field; BA degree in ECE, CD, or related field
• Experience: 2 years of experience in a group care environment, 1 year of experience supervising adults or equivalent Adult Supervision units
• Skills: Effective problem solving, conflict resolution, classroom management, and communication with children and families; Effective organization, time management, curriculum and assessment documentation; Current adult and infant/child CPR/First Aid certification; Bilingual/Multilingual language preference based on individual center needs

• Maintain kind, respectful, and safe emotional and physical environments for children
• Be on time and present on regularly scheduled basis
• Be comfortable with occasional loud noise in or outside the classroom during active/loud activities
• Be comfortable with frequent bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling
• Be physically and mentally capable of interacting with children up to 13 years of age, meeting all their needs and ensuring their safety
• Be aware of and implement safety guidelines; report any health & safety issues or incidents to management, and remain calm if providing first aid (as needed) during emergency situations
