Preschool Teacher Assistant

Evaluates the Needs of Each Student

• Observes and records information on child’s development
• Alters learning activities to meet specific needs
• Refers students with suspected learning challenges to the Preschool teacher & Director

Assists in the Development and Supervision of All Areas

• Consults with the Preschool teacher, director and staff
• Provides appropriate materials
• Ensures that the area is safe

Evaluates and Reports Student Progress

• Helps the Preschool teacher observe and maintain record of student’s progress regularly
• Reports students’ progress to the Preschool teacher & director
• Confers with Preschool teacher

Establishes Positive School Community Relationships

• Maintains cooperative relations with parents
• Works with Preschool teacher for regular conferences and meetings with parents
• Cooperates with and helps promote all school programs
• Maintains awareness of his/her role as a Catholic preschool teacher assistant and its impact on the community

Continues Professional Development

• Remains current with religious and academic standards
• Keeps informed of current instructional practices through professional reading and educational opportunities
• Participates in professional activities and joins appropriate professional organizations
• Attends school and diocesan sponsored in-services and staff development opportunities
• Attends and participates in school faculty meetings and in-services
