Preschool Teacher Assistant

Responsibilities

• Greet parents and children at drop off/pick up
• Keep children’s safety a priority
• Plan and carry out educational curriculum/lesson plans
• Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills
• Attend to children’s basic needs
• Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care
• Establish and reinforce rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order
• Read books to entire classes or to small groups
• Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development
• Lead games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips
• Serve meals and refreshments to children
• Ensure the cleanliness of the classroom and classroom laundry

Requirements

• Knowledgeable about the operation of a learning center
• Childcare experience preferred, but not required
• Effective communication with children, parents, and peers
• Able to enforce administrative policies and rules
• Able to supervise, evaluate, and plan age-appropriate activities
• Able to lift and carry up to 40lbs
• Standing for up to entire shift, bending, lifting, and reaching to both ground level and overhead

Qualifications

• Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Must be able to pass a job-specific post-offer physical and TB test and Family Care Safety Registry background screening
• Must complete federal background screening process through the Missouri Automated Criminal History Site
