About the role
The City of Aurora is seeking a dynamic and energetic Preschool Supervisor to lead our team and create a joyful, safe, and nurturing environment where our littlest community members can thrive.
Responsibilities
- Develops, schedules, coordinates and implements preschool programs.
- Maintains and enforces all documents, records and requirements to meet Colorado Department of Early Childhood, Arapahoe County Health Department, Aurora Fire, Nurse Consultant, city of Aurora, Colorado Shines and any other designated regulatory agency’s rules, regulations and policies.
- Schedules and oversees activities of preschool staff and/or volunteers.
- Marketing to increase and maintain targeted enrollment for the preschool programs.
- Teaches in the classroom as assigned or for coverage needs.
- Develops and attends promotional and marketing activities.
- Analyzes, proposes, & modifies preschool programming and budget to sustain target enrollments and program profitability.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Preschool Program, including fiscal management, hiring, overseeing and evaluating preschool staff.
- Oversees and handles situations with staff, children and adults in a professional and effective manner.
- Performs administrative tasks such as purchasing, making budget recommendations, maintaining records of expenditures and cash handling.
- Collaborates with all programs within the city of Aurora as well as works with other agencies such as the Universal Preschool Program, local preschool councils, and Colorado Shines.
- Coordinates and schedules facility usage as needed.
- Maintains monitors maintenance of assigned equipment or facilities.
Qualifications
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
- Education: Must meet the education and experience guidelines for a Large Child Care Center Director as outlined in the Colorado Department of Early Childhood Rules and Regulations 7.702.43A.
- Experience: The experience requirements for the director of a large center must include direct work with young children and families within an early care and education setting and is based on the completion of the following amount of verified work experience in the care and supervision of four or more children less than eight years of age who are not related to the individual.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Colorado Shines, Universal Preschool Program, registration and/or child care management softwares, TS GOLD and Workday Knowledge: Business Administration- Ability to oversee budgets; revenues and expenses to balance the budget.Programming, implementing and marketing preschool programs.Child development and administration of appropriate practicesEffective classroom management and positive guidance techniquesKnowledge of standard computer operations including word, processing, spreadsheets and presentations.FERPA & HIPPA guidelinesColorado Early Learning and Development GuidelinesGoverning rules and regulations (Office of Early Childhood, local health department, Colorado Shines, etc)
