Preschool Paraprofessional, Class I

9 months, 5 days per week, 7.5 hours per day (8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.).

Assist assigned student(s) with physical tasks (must be able to lift at least fifty pounds).
Reinforce class rules when the teacher is absent and assist substitute teachers.
Listen to student recitations, readings, and other curriculum tasks.
Work with small groups to reinforce materials/academics initially introduced by the teacher.
Reinforce behavior management techniques.
Accompany student(s) on trips to the office and/or school nurse when necessary.
Serve as a resource person for student evaluation team meetings regarding assigned students.
Perform bathroom duties and other duties as assigned to meet students’ needs.
Ensure students are safely transported to and from transportation.

Meet Step-up to Quality & Preschool licensing requirements, including medical form and required professional development.
Ability to follow instructions and project positive reinforcement.
Ability to work well with others, relate to and work well with students, and communicate with students, staff, and the public in individual and group settings.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to improvise in difficult and/or unusual situations and function under stress.
Maintain a neat, well-groomed appearance; demonstrate emotional control; be self-motivated, punctual, dependable, reliable, and task-oriented.
Exercise discretion and good judgment; be in good physical and mental health; be of good moral character.
Derive satisfaction from interacting with students.

One-year Educational Aide permit required by the Ohio Department of Education.
Meet one of the following State of Ohio requirements:
- Pass the ParaPro Assessment Test, or
- Hold an Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or
- Have completed at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an accredited college or university.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $19.23–$26.08
