Preschool General Education Teacher- 10 Month- Bronx

We are currently looking for a General Education Teacher at our Harry H. Gordon School for the 2026-2027 school year (September–June). This is a 10-month, full-time position with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

About the Role

Under general direction, the Special Education Teacher conducts educational classes for special education preschool or Early Intervention programs, adhering to student needs and regulatory requirements. This is a management and supervisory position, responsible for leading each student’s team and supervising assigned Teacher Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts classes/activities adapted to the needs of students.
• Assesses and prepares Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
• Implements and evaluates short- and long-term goals and objectives.
• Participates in student transitioning activities, initial evaluations, and intake processes.
• Provides annual educational assessments and evaluations across all domains.
• Prepares and adapts individual and group lesson plans, materials, and classroom environments.
• Maintains records of daily attendance, progress, and writes periodic reports.
• Ensures services are rendered with utmost regard for student dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Participates in activities outside the classroom (e.g., trips, pool, gym, libraries).
• Serves on interdisciplinary teams, attends annual reviews, parent meetings, and in-service trainings.
• Supervises, trains, evaluates, and recommends hiring, discipline, or termination of Teacher Assistants.
• Obtains approval for and purchases classroom equipment and materials.
• Assists with student transportation, toileting, feeding, and positioning as needed.
• Attends supervisory, management, and parent meetings.
• Assists with curriculum development and provides supervision to student teachers.
• Stays abreast of changes in the field and performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in personal computer use and relevant software.
• Good interpersonal skills for interacting with coworkers, students, parents, and external contacts.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff records.
• Analytical skills to determine corrective measures for problems.
• Availability Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor’s Degree with current enrollment in a Master’s program and/or Early Childhood Education Certification (qualifies for a Study Plan).
• New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth–2nd Grade).
• Meets all additional NY State Certification requirements.

Pay

Annual salary range: $67,705.57 – $79,567.50, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
