About the role

This position is responsible for the general supervision, instruction, and management of a class of children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones, relay messages, and greet families—this individual is the face of Dayspring.
- Perform light clinic duties when the teacher is unavailable.
- Contact the parents of sick learners.
- Maintain and ensure completeness of learners’ and employees' records.
- Order various supplies as requested by the Director/Assistant Director.
- Check enrollment paperwork and count the draw regularly to ensure the number of charts match the enrollment.
- Monitor immunization expiration dates, stay updated on allergy list changes, and print new copies as needed.
- Ensure staff has up-to-date contact information for their clipboard.
- Supervise the classroom when needed.
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the school at all times.
- Attend all staff meetings, staff programs, and recommended training programs/courses.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding learners, parents, and staff.
- Ensure learner safety by being familiar with emergency procedures and special conditions for learners.
- Communicate challenges, concerns, and solutions to the Director.
- Provide and maintain an environment where learners may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.
- Prepare engaging, hands-on lesson plans aligned with monthly and weekly themes.
- Follow a posted schedule and utilize the Early Learning Coalition Assessment checklist.
- Treat each learner with dignity and respect while encouraging independence.
- Implement the school's chosen behavioral system consistently and fairly.
- Keep rooms neat, orderly, and clean.
- Complete 25 hours of in-service annually between July 1 and June 30.
- Conduct parent conferences as needed; review discussion points with the Director beforehand.
- Lead by example, training assistants to take lead roles and strengthen the school.
- Serve as the point person for the 3–4-year-old teaching team.
- Ensure all activities in the Pre-VPK program are age-appropriate.
- Oversee the completion of monthly and weekly assessments by assigned teachers.
Requirements
- Must pass fingerprinting and background screening by the Clearinghouse and DCF.
- Experience working with learners and a commitment to teaching is essential.
- A degree in Early Childhood is preferred but required for certain roles.
- 45 hours of DCF training.
- Must have a CDA or be working toward it.
- Experience in preschool education is required.
- All VPK teachers must maintain their CDA and any necessary coursework determined by the Pasco Hernando Early Learning Coalition.
