Blakemore Children’s Center is hiring teachers! Come join our collaborative team of educators who seek out opportunities to spark wonder as they learn along with children ages 6 weeks–5 years old. We value your experiences with children and your input, and are looking for someone who can combine that experience with a willingness to learn. Blakemore seeks to create collaboration on all levels—between children, educators, parents, and even the classroom environment.

About the Role

Location: Blakemore Children’s Center is located in Nashville’s West End adjacent to Elmington Park and right off of 440.

Age of children you’ll be working with: infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Teaching team: work with a team of 3–4 early childhood educators in a collaborative environment.

Typical schedule: full-time and part-time positions available; afternoon availability is a must.

Responsibilities

A typical day is shaped by the interests and passions children show, so no two days are exactly alike. Predictable routines like meal times and potty breaks are in place, but educators have freedom to collaboratively create dynamic experiences for children.

  • Diligently supervise children to ensure they are safe and well cared for.
  • Engage in a home-like atmosphere within a house used as a preschool classroom.
  • Spend large amounts of time outside on the playground, as we believe anything that can be done inside can be duplicated outside.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Must pass a background and abuse registry check.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Passion for working with young children; view children as highly capable, active participants in their own learning.
  • Commitment to providing the best possible care.
  • Willingness to engage with children at their level, sing silly songs, and be playful.
  • Ability to get along with others, value differences, listen well, and resolve conflict respectfully.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to diverse situations.
  • Self-motivated—take initiative to fulfill responsibilities and assist as needed.

Preference will be given to candidates with early childhood professional experience and education, especially in a Reggio-inspired school, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person.

Benefits

  • Fully paid health insurance for full-time employees.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • 3–5 weeks paid leave annually based on typical hours per week.
  • Paid breaks, paid holidays, and paid inclement weather closings.
  • Access to high-quality professional development opportunities.
  • Staff discount for childcare.
