Position Summary
The Early Learning Director is responsible for managing, supervising, and promoting the site in alignment with the YMCA of East Tennessee's mission, policies, and standards.
CORE FUNCTIONS
- Ensures compliance with state and local regulations regarding staffing, finances, and documentation.
- Participates in annual budget planning and implementation, monitoring program effectiveness, and maintaining NAEYC standards.
- Communicates center philosophy, policies, and regulatory requirements to staff and parents.
- Manages administrative tasks such as fee collection, menu posting, and parent communication.
- Ensures a safe and risk-free environment for children.
- Plans and promotes family engagement activities.
- Implements best practices for early childhood development.
- Directly supervises all center operations, including staff, child supervision, and facility management.
- Trains, develops, and evaluates staff.
- Works to increase enrollment and member satisfaction.
- Follows Y policies and completes incident reports.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Must meet one of four education/training requirements, including at least 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and follow instructions.
- Physical Demands: Frequent exposure to outdoor weather, standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Language Skills: Read and interpret documents, write reports, and speak effectively.

Certificates, Licenses, and Courses
- Current Adult/Child CPR and First Aid certifications.
