Preschool Assistant Teacher

About This Role

The Earthplace Preschool is hiring multiple full-time assistant teachers in their mixed-age classroom for 3's, 4's, and 5's. Assistant teachers work as part of a team, sharing responsibilities with the lead teacher for the care and education of assigned groups of children.

Responsibilities

• Plan with the teaching team and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Supervise children and help maintain a healthy and safe learning environment
• Support children's language acquisition, gross and fine motor skills, and toileting needs
• Encourage social skills, empathy, and friendship formation
• Participate in professional development opportunities

Requirements

• ECE courses and/or 2 years of experience working with toddlers and/or preschoolers
• A passion and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young children and families
• A hard-working, reliable attitude, and a desire to learn
• A working knowledge of CT statutes and regulations, NAEYC criteria, and the CT ELDS
• A positive attitude
• Nice to haves: excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a team, experience with Tadpoles application, and comfort with lifting 50 pounds to chest height

Pay and Schedule

• $17 - $20 per hour based on experience and education level
• Closing shifts Monday through Friday from 10am to 6pm
