About the role

The Presales Service Architect is responsible for providing expert technical and service input, service design, and bid support for Subsea and Terrestrial Network monitoring and maintenance services. Operating as a subject matter expert, the role supports the Sales, Commercial, and Operations Teams in translating customer requirements into deliverable, costed, and compelling services, in alignment with the company strategy of sustained profitable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee design, deployment, and support (monitoring and maintenance) proposals for Subsea and Terrestrial Network opportunities.
  • Support the creation of technical and service input for RFIs, RFPs, and proposals.
  • Support the Commercial Team, ensuring services are viable, scalable, cost-effective, and profitable to deliver.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations teams to validate and refine service components to ensure services can be delivered to the agreed SLA and profitably.
  • Help qualify Subsea and Terrestrial Network opportunities as go/no-go with Sales, considering input from Operations, Commercial, Finance, and Legal when necessary.
  • Work directly with the Sales and Commercial Teams to understand customer needs and develop tailored services.
  • Participate in customer meetings, presentations, and workshops to represent Engineering and Delivery capability.
  • Act as a trusted advisor during the pre-sales process, balancing customer requirements with commercial and delivery constraints to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Contribute to strategic account planning and business development activities.
  • Support Sales and Operations in scoping services that include monitoring and maintaining optical technology, design, deployment, and support elements for Subsea and Terrestrial Networks.
  • Support the development of technical services across Subsea, Terrestrial, and associated infrastructure, including cable landing stations (CLS) and data center environments.
  • Ensure proposed services align with internal capabilities and delivery frameworks.
  • Liaise with internal subject matter experts and delivery leads to obtain accurate input for costing, timelines, and resourcing.
  • Secure and maintain the required technical and service certifications required by the business.
  • Translate customer and commercial requirements into clear internal design briefs and handover documentation as part of the transition from Sales to Operations.
  • Create supporting resourcing models to maximize efficiency and gross margin.
  • Contribute to the development of the Service catalogue, standardized service templates, and design approaches.
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, technology developments, and competitor offerings within telecoms infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant technology providers operating in the Subsea and Terrestrial markets, including Ciena, Fortinet, Cisco, Infinera, Subcom, and Alcatel.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Presales, Services Architecture, and Technical roles within Telecoms or related digital infrastructure.
  • Projects and IT Service Management experience, specifically in Subsea and Terrestrial Network monitoring and maintenance services.
  • Proven track record of success working within a sales and pre-sales environment.
  • Strong technical, design, deployment, and support service knowledge in Subsea and Terrestrial optical networking, including related infrastructure (CLS and datacenter).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality documentation, proposals, presentations, and technical and service responses.
  • Commercially aware, with a good understanding of return on investment (ROI), cost modeling (P&L), delivery risk, and contractual frameworks.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and delivery-focused mindset.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and ISO27001.
