Presales CAD Engineer
About the Role
Vertiv is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to contribute to the concept design and technical coordination of modular data center solutions. The role involves interpreting customer requirements, creating technical proposals, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver optimized data center deployments.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand RFP and tender documents, as well as customer requirements provided by the sales and solutions architecture teams.
- Develop concept designs for data center architecture and equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant architectural and structural codes and standards.
- Create CAD models and design passive fire protection systems.
- Coordinate with technical disciplines (HVAC, electrical, controls, fire protection) to dimension and specify structural and architectural components of modular buildings.
- Provide technical project coordination with customers and suppliers, including communication to propose optimal solutions.
- Develop technical proposals for Vertiv modular data center solutions and produce supporting design documents.
- Solve problems and interpret customer requirements into actionable proposed solutions.
- Support the sales and solutions architecture teams with solution-based thinking that integrates structural, mechanical, and electrical components for end-customer deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of design experience.
- Proficiency in structural and mechanical system design, including end-user interface applications.
- Strong CAD capabilities, with the ability to represent site, structural, and system layouts, as well as custom designs for prefabricated data center infrastructure.
- Experience with CAD 2D design is required; proficiency in Revit or other 3D modeling software is preferred.
- Experience in civil, construction, or architecture (traditional or modular) is a plus.
- Solid communication skills, both written and oral, to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Solution-based thinking to integrate mechanical and electrical components into customer deployments.
Skills
- Active user of Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word), and AutoCAD.
