Presales CAD Engineer

About the role

This role involves designing data center architecture and equipment, coordinating with technical disciplines, and providing solutions for Vertiv modular data centers.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand RFP and tender documents
• Interpret customer requirements provided by the sales and solutions architecture (SA) team
• Conceptual design of data center architecture and equipment
• Understand relevant architectural and structural codes and standards
• CAD modeling, including passive fire protection design and requirements
• Coordinate with other technical disciplines (HVAC, electrical, controls, fire protection)
• Dimension and specify structural and architectural parts of modular buildings
• Technical project coordination with customers and suppliers
• Communicate with customers to propose optimal solutions
• Create technical proposals for Vertiv modular data center solutions
• Provide design documents
• Problem-solve and interpret customer requirements into proposed solutions
• Support the SA and sales team
• Apply solution-based thinking to incorporate structural and mechanical components into end-customer deployments

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of design experience
• Proficiency in structural and mechanical system design, including end-user interface applications
• Strong CAD capabilities, including representation of site, structural, and system layouts, as well as custom designs and prefabricated data center infrastructure systems
• Solution-based thinking to incorporate mechanical and electrical components into end-customer deployments
• Solid written and oral communication skills to collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams
• Active user of Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word), and AutoCAD

Skills

• CAD 2D design experience (required)
• Revit or any 3D modeling software (preferred)
• Experience in civil, construction, or architecture (traditional or modular, preferred)
