Position Purpose
The Preprocedural Assessment Nurse at Mercy Medical Center prepares patients for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. This role involves conducting pre-procedure assessments, patient education, and coordinating care through a centralized call center. Occasionally, the nurse may support the Endoscopy unit directly, assisting procedural nurses with patient care.
What You Will Do
- Celebrate diversity and inclusion by finding common ground and embracing differences.
- Conduct telephonic pre-procedural assessments, patient education, and coordination with anesthesia to ensure readiness for endoscopic procedures.
- Review and verify surgical charts, confirm procedure details with patients, and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Provide occasional in-unit support to procedural nurses, assisting with direct patient care as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
- Active RN license in the state of Massachusetts.
- One or more years of acute inpatient nursing experience; Endoscopy experience strongly preferred.
Preferred
- BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
- Certification support is available post-hire.
- Familiarity with the American Gastroenterological Nurses Association (AGNA) standards.
Position Highlights
- Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week – Day Shift.
- Work Days: Monday through Friday.
- No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.
