About the role
The Preoperative Phone Screening RN is responsible for conducting telephone-based preoperative assessments to ensure patients are prepared for their scheduled surgical procedures. This role involves reviewing medical histories, identifying potential risks, providing preoperative instructions, and communicating critical findings to the Ready for Surgery team.
Responsibilities
- Conducts telephone-based preoperative assessments
- Reviews medical histories

- Works closely with registered nurses (RNs) and other healthcare providers
- Facilitates a smooth and safe surgical experience for patients
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience (experience in preoperative care, surgical, or outpatient care setting preferred)
- BLS certified and basic computer skills
- Strong understanding of preoperative processes and surgical workflows
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (RHR/EMR)
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
