Key Responsibilities
- Aid the Production Supervisor in directing daily operations and personnel assignments.
- Maintain oversight of production lines and assist with trailer flow to ensure adherence to schedules.
- Support onboarding, on-the-job training, and cross-training of team members.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure team compliance with PPE and procedures.
- Monitor team member attendance and behavior, reporting concerns to the Supervisor.
- Conduct informal quality checks and help enforce quality assurance standards.
- Communicate with other department leads and relay production or material issues to the Supervisor.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Step in to lead the team in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
- Assist in documentation, trailer part verification, and reporting of incidents or equipment issues.
- Perform hands-on work and fill in on production tasks as needed to maintain workflow.
Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure coworkers use required PPE and follow safety procedures.
- Identify and help correct hazards such as spills, obstructions, or unsafe tools.
- Assist with proper use and documentation of fire extinguishers, tagged tools, and hazardous materials.
- Report all incidents, near-misses, or unsafe behavior to the Production Supervisor promptly.
Production Responsibilities
- Support trailer scheduling, personnel placement, and trailer movement through the line.
- Confirm materials, tools, and parts are available and properly used.
- Check for alignment with order forms and drawings during key build stages.
- Help minimize material waste and communicate shortages or equipment needs.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Solid understanding of trailer production processes.
- Dependable and capable of leading small groups when needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a team-first mindset.
- Attention to detail with the ability to spot safety or quality issues.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, read drawings, and use measuring equipment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the manufacturing area for extended periods.
- Must be able to bend at the waist, kneel, and squat, walk, climb up and down ladders/scaffolding, stoop, push, pull and/or carry materials.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Must be able to work in hot or cold environments.
- Must be able to work in indoor or outdoor environments.
- May be exposed to welding, grinding, paint fumes, and machinery noise.
