PrEP Navigator

About the role

The PrEP Navigator is responsible for recruiting people who are HIV positive or at high risk for HIV infection. This individual must provide navigation to patients on PEP and PrEP to engage and retain in care. The PrEP Navigator will conduct outreach at high risk venues where POC and MSM convene throughout New York City.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to persons who are high risk for HIV infection under supervision of PrEP Coordinator.
• Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to the target populations including HIV testing events and other health fairs.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to coordinate care and services for the program’s clients.
• Work collaboratively with agency staff from various departments.
• Maintain accurate records on services and activities such as attendance, registration, client interactions and other required documentation according to APICHA’s Support Services Department protocols and designated database/reporting structures.
• Collect, prepare, and report on services and activities completed in a timely manner.
• Participate in internal and external meetings as assigned and appropriate.
• Perform other activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with 1 year of working experience in a related field required (some college education with 1 year of experience may be considered).
• Strong socio‑cultural identification with the target population or experience working with the target population strongly preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish or one of the Asian languages preferred.
• Appreciation of and commitment to Apicha’s mission and values.
• Ability to complete the Chief Medical Officer’s training/certification to conduct rapid HIV antibody and antigen testing within 60 days of hire.

Skills

• Excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work effectively in both collaborative and individual settings.
