Primary Responsibilities
- Supporting line cooks by completing the preliminary food preparation tasks and maintaining kitchen organization.
- Execute daily prep lists efficiently and accurately, including washing, peeling, cutting and portioning ingredients according to specifications.
- Prepare basic components of dishes. Measuring accurately, following recipes precisely and maintain proper storage procedures for all prepared items.
- Maintain proper food storage, monitoring temperatures, dating items and ensuring first in first out (FIFO) protocols are followed.
- Assist with kitchen cleaning duties, sanitizing prep areas, and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen areas. This involves following detailed schedules and health department regulations.
Required Skills
- Previous prep cook experience
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Basic math skills for recipe conversion
- Physical ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
