About the role
The Prep Cook supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and ensuring all food is prepared consistently and according to established recipes and food-safety standards. This role plays an important part in helping the kitchen operate efficiently and delivering a high-quality dining experience for every guest.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and portion ingredients including vegetables, meats, sauces, and other food items.
- Follow recipes, preparation techniques, and presentation standards consistently.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked prep and work areas.
- Label, date, store, and rotate ingredients according to food-safety and FIFO standards.
- Assist cooks and culinary team members with daily food preparation and service needs.
- Monitor ingredient levels and communicate shortages or quality concerns to the Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Follow all sanitation, food-safety, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with kitchen cleaning, dishwashing, and other assigned closing duties.
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to an organized, efficient, and positive kitchen culture.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to follow recipes and verbal and written instructions.
- Commitment to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently during busy periods.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to communicate effectively with chefs and fellow team members.
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, banquet, or commercial kitchen is preferred.
- Previous food preparation experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Culinary training or food-safety certification is a plus.
- Successful completion of a background check is required prior to employment.
