Responsibilities
- Help ensure consistent, well-run mealtimes for students and staff by contributing to daily dining operations.
- Prepare and portion meals in coordination with kitchen staff for both students and staff.
- Prep ingredients and meals in advance, including weekends, to maintain efficient service.
- Chop, peel, wash, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and food safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately (knives, mixers, blenders, etc.) during daily meal preparation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including dishes, work surfaces, and waste areas.
- Assist with additional hours or coverage during busy periods or staff absences as needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Considerable knowledge of food service operation including large quantity food preparation; general nutrition; receiving and food storage; food service sanitation and safety.
- Skilled in operating various institutional and commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing stairs, and frequent bending and reaching in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- 2-3 years minimum cooking experience.
- ServSafe or Food Handlers certification, preferred.
