Duties & Responsibilities
- Report to work in a neat and clean uniform with well-groomed hair and acceptable personal hygiene.
- Consistently report or shifts as scheduled and be on time.
- Complete opening and closing checklists.
- Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
- Cook a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
- Affords assistance in closing the kitchen.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
- Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Kitchen Manager.
- Informs Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.
- Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 1 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
- Must have at least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
- Ability to recognize order codes and product and comprehend simple instructions.
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers using units of weight, measurement, and volume.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, or oral, form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations.
- Speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations.
- Listen and get clarification. Respond well to questions.
- Speak effectively with guests, coworkers and management.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Be able to safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
