Prep Cook

Arlo Hotels, an independent lifestyle hotel, is seeking a dynamic Part-Time Prep Cook for our NoMad location in New York, NY. We strive to create a sense of awe that leaves those we touch wanting more. The main business of any restaurant is providing the highest quality of food possible, and this effort is completely dependent on the kitchen staff, particularly prep cooks who "set the table" for the chefs and line cooks.

Responsibilities

• Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations.
• Deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences.
• Coordinate and multi-task job duties in an active environment.
• Prepare ingredients for daily menu offerings, including washing, chopping, grating, and slicing vegetables for dishes, salads, soups, and appetizers as specified on daily prep lists.
• Fully complete the daily prep list and ensure proper storage of all items.
• Have the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef taste and sign off on every prepped item.
• Prepare meat for cooking, which may involve cutting or slicing into appropriate portions.
• Prepare any ingredient or specific recipe as directed by the Sous Chef, following recipes correctly in an exact and precise manner.
• Understand and practice proper food cooling and storing techniques.
• Keep work area clean, sanitized, and organized, including prep tables, sinks, walk-ins, low boys, floors, and dry storage.
• Safely use a variety of food service equipment, including knives, pots and pans, ovens, grills, food processors, and slicers.
• Responsible for using sharp cutlery at all times.

Requirements

• 2+ years of prep or line cook experience in NYC at a comparable restaurant or hotel.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stay on your feet for 8+ hours.
• Strong knife skills.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment such as vita prep, robo coup, ovens, and burners.

Pay

$18.00 per hour
