Preoperative PACU Registered Nurse PRN

About the role

This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a cross-trained capacity for both the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and pre-operative departments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough pre-op assessments
• Initiate IV access and administer medications
• Prepare patients for surgery with education on procedures and recovery
• Monitor airway, respiratory, circulatory, and neurological status during recovery
• Manage pain, nausea, and other symptoms
• Perform ongoing assessments to identify and respond to complications
• Evaluate surgical sites, drains, and dressings
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the appropriate state
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• At least one year of relevant experience preferred
• Candidates with inactive licenses must complete a refresher course for reinstatement

Schedule

• PRN position
• Flexible shifts primarily Monday through Friday
• Evening and overnight options based on unit needs
