PreOp PACU RN

About the role

The Pre Op/PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. This role may assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks including conscious sedation and sterile techniques. The nurse delivers comprehensive care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in preparation for discharge.

Responsibilities

• Provide total, comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
• Perform patient assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation for discharge readiness.
• Assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation and sterile techniques.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times.
• Make decisions based on nursing judgment and prioritize workload to meet patient and unit needs.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU, acute care, or ICU preferred.
• Experience with cardiac monitored nursing care preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload effectively.
