PreOp/ PACU Registered Nurse (Full-Time)

Essential Functions

Affords nursing care to patients in a same-day surgery setting. Assumes full responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and center policies. Monitors and controls supply usage and charges.

• Maintains patient and employee privacy and confidentiality.
• Administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
• Carefully discharges post-operative patients in accordance with facility policies.
• Accurately assesses the need for pain and/or nausea medication.
• Always administers medication after receiving an order.
• Documents medication administration and side effects.
• Supports patients and their families psychologically.
• Maintains rapport with physicians and other departments involved in patient care.
• Admits patients to a sit-up area.
• Accurately charges medications and supplies.
• Checks charge sheets for supplies used on patients.
• Functions independently in emergency situations.
• Makes logical, quick decisions based on sound judgment.
• Maintains competence through continuing education.
• Maintains supplies and cleanliness in the work environment.
