PreOp/ PACU Registered Nurse (Full-Time)

Essential Functions

Affords nursing care to patients in a same-day surgery setting. Assumes full responsibility for patient care in line with physician's orders and center policies. Monitors and controls supply usage and billing.

• Maintains patient and employee privacy and confidentiality
• Administers medications and treatments as per physician's orders
• Carefully documents symptoms, reactions, and changes in patients' conditions
• Accurately assesses and administers pain and nausea medication
• Ensures that all medications are documented and administered safely
• Supports patients and their families emotionally
• Communicates effectively with physicians and other departments involved in patient care
• Admits patients to the sit-up area
• Accurately charges medications and supplies
• Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures
• Assists in training new employees
• Maintains the work environment and supplies

Skills

Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and surgical procedures. Ability to make quick, logical decisions under pressure. Proficiency in using medical equipment and maintaining patient records.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Registered Nurse license
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
