Premium Audit Analyst

About the role

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, seeks a Premium Audit Analyst in Sacramento, CA. This position involves engaging in job training to understand classification codes and premium audit manual rules for a single jurisdiction, focusing initially on small policies.

Responsibilities

• Successfully demonstrates understanding of foundational audit concepts and procedures.
• Reviews documentation submitted via customer portal and proactively communicates with policyholders and agents to gather necessary information.
• Sets up basic worksheets to verify final audited payroll and identifies discrepancies compared to pre-audit classification codes.
• Contacts internal/external stakeholders regarding unusual items and forwards to management for discussion and approval.
• Conducts research on applicable Bureau websites and call centers as needed to complete the final audit.
• Works with Underwriting to ensure correct application of classification codes and forwards discrepancies and concerns to Supervisor for review.
• Processes final audit and revised final audit transactions on policies and provides basic summary of audit development to justify AP/RP.
• Responds to basic inquiries regarding the premium audit process and standard Finance workflows and forwards all other inquiries to Supervisor for review.
• Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned by leadership or as situation dictates.

Qualifications

• Some transferrable premium audit experience or sufficient combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software and able to be proficient on applicable databases, systems, and vendor software programs.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and professional business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where some limited standardization exists.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Skills

• Basic understanding of classification codes and premium audit manual rules.

Pay

The starting hourly wage for this job is $31.25. This hourly wage is what the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations consistent with applicable law. The pay scale applies only to this position and only if it is filled in California. The pay scale may be different for other positions or in other locations.
