About the role
The Pre-K Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young learners. This position provides developmentally appropriate instruction that fosters curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning while preparing students for success in kindergarten.
Responsibilities
- Create engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with state early learning standards.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where all students feel safe and valued.
- Foster children’s social, emotional, language, cognitive, and physical development through play-based and hands-on learning experiences.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and developmental levels of students.
- Absorb student growth through observation, documentation, and formal and informal assessments.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate student progress with families.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support student success.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities.
- Follow all district policies, procedures, and state regulations regarding early childhood education and student safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Early Childhood endorsement.
- Knowledge of child development, early learning standards, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and the school community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching preschool or early childhood students.
- Experience working with diverse learners and implementing differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of early childhood assessment tools and instructional technology.
