About This Role

The Verona Area School District partners with Once Upon a Time Child Care Center to provide 4K (Verona Pre-K) programming to area students. Once Upon a Time is hiring a full-time 4K Preschool Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. We may be able to negotiate on wage, depending upon education and experience. The start date would be sometime in mid-August to participate in some District training, as well as to set up the classroom, etc. The program start date is Tuesday, September 3, 2024. We hire positive, happy, energetic and caring individuals to guide and nurture the children in our care. Our center has a holistic and sustainable living philosophy. We practice the Creative Curriculum, Pyramid Model Social/Emotional and Nurtured Heart programs. We seek individuals with a passion for teaching and for children.

What You'll Do

• Provide play in a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
• Attend to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, changing their diapers, and spending time engaging at their level.
• Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
• Read books to entire classes or to small groups.
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to children.
• Demonstrate activities to children.
• Arrange indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
• Organize and label materials and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their ages and perceptual skills.
• Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guests, or other experiential activities and guide students in learning from those activities.

Requirements

• WI DPI Teaching License (Required)
• Bachelor's (Required)
• Candidates must carry a DPI Early Childhood License.
• Previous experience and knowledge of child classroom management techniques, child growth & development, various learning theories and developmentally appropriate activities preferred.
• Professional communication skills required.
• Must be able to work as a supportive member of our team.

Pay & Schedule

• Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour (excellent compensation based on education & experience)
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No nights
• No weekends
• Overtime
