About the role
Holy Family Catholic School seeks a responsible, energetic, and nurturing individual with experience in early childhood to support a Pre-K program. Pre-K teacher aides assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate curriculum, supervising students, and reinforcing classroom goals for children aged 3 to 5.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in planning, developing, and implementing curriculum
- Support daily lesson planning and instruction
- Set up interest centers and prepare instructional materials such as flash cards and cutouts
- Supervise students within the classroom and during recreational activities
- Provide a nurturing environment and assist students with assignments
- Guide independent study and handle remedial work activities
- Assist students during lunchtime, toileting, and washing activities
- Enforce cleanup activities and model appropriate behavior
- Observe and report student behavior changes to lead teachers
- Assist in evaluating students and recording assessments
- Supervise students during field trips to ensure safety and wellbeing
- Organize and supervise physical education programs during school time
- Handle student record keeping, filing, and photocopying activities
- Provide instruction and supervision in the absence of the lead teacher
- Offer one-on-one support to students, such as helping with writing names or initial counting
Qualifications
- Commitment to the philosophy of Catholic education and the Mission of Holy Family Catholic School
- Minimum of a two-year Associate’s Degree
- Commitment to student growth and success
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team member
- Proficiency in technology and excellent communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year B.A./B.S. Degree
- State Teacher Certification in appropriate grade level
- Three years of teaching experience; early childhood experience preferred
- Catechist certification and Safe Haven training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer networks and software applications as needed
- Ability to organize and coordinate work and communicate effectively with students and parents
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Physical Requirements
- Stand for long periods of time
- Walk long distances across campus and within the classroom
- Use hands to handle teaching tools (technology, textbooks, student work, chalkboard/whiteboard)
- Reach with hands and arms
- Climb steps
- Sit for periods of time on chairs and the floor
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Lift up to 50 lbs
Additional Job Functions
- Maintain classroom order and behavioral management to ensure safety
- Participate in curriculum and staff development programs
- Attend all required in-service days
Reports To: School Principal
Work Year: 2026–2027 (August–May with additional training days)
Specific Days Needed: Monday through Friday (any one or more days)
Min./Max. Hours per week: 40
Job Hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM (additional hours may be added for meetings, etc)
Pay Rate: Dependent on education and experience
