About the role
This role will work onsite at our prefabrication shop in Des Moines, IA Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 5:30pm. Saturday hours may be required based on the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead prefab kickoff meetings and define project-specific prefabrication scope of work
- Develop and maintain prefab production schedules aligned with project installation milestones
- Cook up detailing priorities and confirm drawing packages are complete prior to production release
- Review construction documents and drawings to ensure constructability and alignment with real-world field means and method
- Sequence prefab assemblies based on installation-driven requirements
- Translate required quantities into production duration based on established shop capacity
- Monitor prefab labor hours against estimated budgets and identify variances
- Coordinate prefab-related change requests and pricing, within delegated authority
- Facilitate regular prefab coordination meetings between field project teams and shop leadership
- Ensure material requirements are identified and aligned with production schedules
- Validate assemblies are complete and installation-ready prior to shipment
- Spend regular time on the shop floor reviewing assemblies and working directly with production teams
- Visit project sites as needed to confirm constructability and gather field feedback
- Identify schedule, detailing, or material risks impacting production and escalate appropriately
- Collaborate with Shop Superintendents to align weekly production priorities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of field construction experience required. Experience as a Foreman, Lead Installer, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar role preferred
- Strong practical understanding of construction means and methods
- Field credibility and ability to communicate effectively with craft labor
- Comfortable working in a production environment — not solely in an office setting
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting schedules
- Willingness to be hands-on when needed to resolve issues
- Strong problem-solving ability grounded in real-world installation experience
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is required. Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Revit, CAD, or similar platforms preferred for review purposes only. This role is not a design position.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
