Preconstruction Project Manager
About the role
The Preconstruction Project Manager is responsible for the success of the schedule, logistics, utilities, permitting, and other key elements for each project they manage. They collaborate on planning and activities to keep both Aurora and the clients informed of project progress.
Responsibilities
- Manage bid and project schedules, logistics plans, and integrate safety measures.
- Collaborate with local utilities to identify necessary connections.
- Track and obtain project permits, schedule inspections, and ensure compliance.
- Support in executing master contracts and distributing to trade contractors.
- Manage general requirements setup, procurement activities, and financial reporting.
- Initiate project startups, oversee mobilization efforts, and resolve procurement conflicts.
- Procure and oversee consultant services during the pre-construction phase.
- Clarify proposal details and exclusions to ensure project team comprehension.
- Review and distribute initial submittals for design and subcontractor coordination.
- Develop and mentor direct reports, ensuring their performance and skills advancement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- 5+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, procurement, or project management within the construction industry.
- Experience with cost estimation, bid management, contract negotiation, and value engineering.
- Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record in coordinating with design teams, trade contractors, and utility providers during preconstruction phases.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Managerial experience.
Day in the Life
A typical day would be working at Aurora’s main office, managing assigned project schedules, logistics, utilities, and permitting. A typical day will also include project team meetings with the Lead Estimator and collaboration with the project team to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
Pay
Salary $115,000.00 to $175,000.00 Compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and qualifications. Ranges and rates may take into consideration benefits, bonuses, and other factors.
Schedule
Full Time, Exempt: Monday – Friday 8-5pm (Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand)
