Key Responsibilities
- Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and authorization requirements for orthotic and prosthetic devices.
- Communicate benefit information to clinicians and ensure they are up to date on patient coverage.
- Aid with phone calls and messages, and notify patients of their insurance coverage for prescribed items.
- Schedule patient appointments, collect deposits, verify insurance, and assist with check-in and check-out duties.
- Review and prepare patient charts, ensuring all required documentation is present prior to delivery of products.
- Aid in the coordination of patient care, ensuring timely scheduling and appropriate follow-ups.
- Communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians, and staff regarding all aspects of patient care.
- Ensure that inventory levels are verified before patient appointments.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Prior experience in medical insurance, with a preference for prior experience in precertification and/or orthotics and prosthetics, is preferred.
- Knowledge of SMX or similar EMR software is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and work under pressure is essential.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
- A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently is required.
- Strong initiative and self-discipline are important qualities.
