Key Responsibilities

  • Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and authorization requirements for orthotic and prosthetic devices.
  • Communicate benefit information to clinicians and ensure they are up to date on patient coverage.
  • Aid with phone calls and messages, and notify patients of their insurance coverage for prescribed items.
  • Schedule patient appointments, collect deposits, verify insurance, and assist with check-in and check-out duties.
  • Review and prepare patient charts, ensuring all required documentation is present prior to delivery of products.
  • Aid in the coordination of patient care, ensuring timely scheduling and appropriate follow-ups.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians, and staff regarding all aspects of patient care.
  • Ensure that inventory levels are verified before patient appointments.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Prior experience in medical insurance, with a preference for prior experience in precertification and/or orthotics and prosthetics, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SMX or similar EMR software is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and work under pressure is essential.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently is required.
  • Strong initiative and self-discipline are important qualities.
