Precast Engineer, PE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
• Interfaces with sales, estimating, project management, and operations, as well as the customer (general contractor and architect/engineer) to accomplish the task of engineering package generation, submittal and approval.
• Supplies the plant with details and information for fabrication and erection with plans and information for construction and for resolving any questions, conflicts or issues in these areas as they may arise.
• Generates designs and drawings for the precast concrete system from construction documents consisting of architectural and structural drawings and specifications. Certain projects may be designed from conceptual information only.
• Manages the design and drafting of several projects at a time, either with internal resources or utilizing outside resources. If internal, the individual will typically self-perform the design or at least the more complex portion of the design if junior level engineers are also involved.
• Provides sales support as assigned by Engineering Manager.
• Responsible for performing field observations on projects. This will include writing Observation Reports along with development and tracking of field repairs.
• May lead two to four designers and one or two entry-level engineers on a project-by-project basis.
• Checks the work of the EIT and Associate engineer on a project-by-project basis.

Job Specifications Or Qualifications

• Certificates, Licenses, Registration: Registration as a PE is required.
• Education: Civil Engineering Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required: with a structural focus preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of related experience is required, with at least 2 years of experience in the precast concrete, concrete construction, civil construction, or related construction industry preferred. Direct precast or concrete industry experience is highly desirable but not required.
