About The Opportunity

Chelsea Piers Field House is seeking a dedicated and skilled Weekend Pre-School Multi-Sports Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for running our Little Athletes classes for ages 3–5 on weekends, while executing the program's vision and culture. This is a great opportunity for a coach who loves working with young children and wants a consistent weekend schedule, with the option to pick up additional hours through parties and events. This role reports to the Basketball Director and Coaching and Development Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Run two Little Athletes classes on weekends, for ages 3–5
  • Assist with other sports classes, most prominently tennis and volleyball, as needed
  • Maintain the same standard of enthusiasm, patience, and structure across Little Athletes and any other class being assisted
  • Parties and events are available on weekends for additional hours, for coaches who want to pick up extra time beyond their Little Athletes classes
  • Deliver age-appropriate, multi-sport instruction that ensures adherence to the program's vision and culture
  • Maintain strong class management, and build genuine connection with both kids and families — treating every interaction as an opportunity to build trust and deliver excellent service
  • Collaborate closely with fellow coaches to stay aligned on curriculum and coaching approach, communicating consistently so every class reflects the same standard and delivers the best possible experience for the kids
  • Be a steady, comforting, and engaging presence for young children who may be new to structured group activities, helping foster a sense of belonging and fun
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed or assigned, including maintaining accurate records of class activities
  • Work parties and events on weekends for additional hours, for coaches who want them

Schedule

Weekends, running two Little Athletes classes for ages 3–5. Additional hours available through weekend parties and events for coaches who want them.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children ages 3–5 in a structured class, camp, school, or childcare setting
  • A bachelor's degree or higher (preferred)
  • Willingness and ability to assist with other sports classes, most prominently tennis and volleyball
  • Strong understanding of age-appropriate multi-sport activities and coaching techniques for pre-school-aged children
  • The ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with parents and families, many of whom are new to structured youth programming
  • Strong customer connection skills, with the ability to engage young kids and their families in a way that builds trust and reflects excellent service
  • Patience, warmth, and comfort managing a classroom of young children with varying attention spans and comfort levels
  • Willingness to implement, enhance, and maintain the program's core philosophies
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and organization skills
  • Availability on weekends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CPR and SafeSport certification
