Pre - Registration Specialist

Responsibilities

• Collect patient intake documents ahead of appointments to save time and reduce paperwork.
• Answer inbound and outbound calls.
• Collect patient demographics including personal demographics, employment, guarantor, emergency contact, and insurance information.
• Verify insurance information, check Medicaid PCP, answer Medicare questionnaires, and check for out‑of‑network or out‑of‑area coverage.
• Direct out‑of‑network insured patients to the Office of Financial Counseling and advise in‑network patients of their insurance copay and deductible.
• Provide detailed appointment information (time, location, physician).
• Perform other duties as needed to support patient care activities.
• Serve as the network specialist for understanding patient insurance.

Requirements

• High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent.
• 2 years of customer service or healthcare experience.
• Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write.
• Computer/basic keyboard skills.
• Telephone etiquette skills.
• General knowledge of office machines (printers, scanners).
• Excellent customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in general studies or a related field.
• One year of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred; competency within 3 months of hire.
• Registration experience preferred.
