About the role
TOPPAN Packaging Americas specializes in designing and manufacturing sustainable, high-performance flexible and thermoformed packaging solutions for the food, beverage, medical, and consumer goods industries. We offer products like transparent high-barrier films, pouches, clamshells, and trays, utilizing advanced technology to enhance product safety, visibility, and environmental sustainability. This role leads all pre-press operations, including Cylinder Technicians and Setup Department Technicians, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Operations Manager with production planning and operation.
- Manage 24-hour operations to ensure each shift is supported with personnel with appropriate skillsets to minimize downtime.
- Review employee time daily and approve weekly in UKG to ensure accurate payroll.
- Ensure pre-press staff receive at least one formal annual performance review, with additional coaching as necessary.
- Work with HR on TOPPAN’s disciplinary process to address behavioral concerns.
- Ensure pre-press employees complete required safety, quality, and maintenance training as scheduled.
- Maintain communication with vendors to procure proper parts and quantities for the pre-press department.
- Understand and apply all safety rules, regulations, and procedures, including proper PPE and safe manufacturing practices.
- Support Quality initiatives based on customer specifications and feedback from the quality manager.
- Direct continuous improvement initiatives using the Global Performance System (GPS).
- Manage the Failure Analysis process.
- Monitor waste KPIs daily for press operations and drive improvements using the FA process.
- Support GPS through team leadership and direct participation.
- Manage and facilitate the Ei3 process for the facility.
Requirements
- Minimum Associate of Applied Science degree or work-related training relevant to a production manager position.
- Minimum of 3–5 years in a production supervision role or ten years of experience in a roto gravure production environment.
- Computer literacy, including experience with Windows-based programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio).
- Ability to lead and direct personnel.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems accurately and effectively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated willingness to be a team player.
This is an onsite position located at the Morristown, TN facility.
