Pre-Operative / PACU RN

About the role

Direct and be accountable for the nursing care of patients in the Pre-Operative Assessment and Testing outpatient setting. Ability to teach and share knowledge with ancillary services (anesthesia), and physicians in patient preparation for surgical procedures. Ability to multi-task with excellent telephone communication and charting skills. Strong empathy when dealing with the patient and family undergoing surgical interventions. Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize and deliver pre-operative patient education, based on the specific needs for the patient.
• Task include gathering histories and performing physicals, use anesthesia guidelines for pre-operative testing if not previously ordered by surgeon.
• Gather and evaluate lab work, EKG's, and surgical clearances.

Qualifications

• Must hold current license for a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia
• 2+ years experience in Pre-Operative Setting
