RN Pre OP PACU PRN positions are available at USPI New Mexico Surgery Center - Orthopaedics. These roles involve providing essential nursing care to patients during surgical cases in a fast-paced environment. The primary responsibilities include organizing time, equipment, supplies, and personnel; using equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs; confirming proper techniques and procedures; assisting in inventory management; maintaining order and cleanliness; performing thorough Pre-Operative patient assessments; providing Pre-Operative instruction and explanations; obtaining pertinent patient records; performing Pre-Operative testing; reporting abnormal values; explaining informed consent; obtaining necessary signatures; informing patients about routine care; discussing findings with anesthesiologists; and documenting Pre-Operative care.

Responsibilities
- Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel
- Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
- Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
- Assists in inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the Pre-Operative area
- Maintains order and cleanliness of Pre-Operative area
- Performs thorough Pre-Operative patient assessment required in the outpatient setting
- Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient prior to admission
- Provides Pre-Operative instruction and explanation of patient rights and responsibilities
- Describes the perioperative experience to the patient/significant other, including what to expect before, during, and after the procedure, and how the significant other will participate
- Obtains pertinent patient records prior to patient’s arrival for Pre-Operative testing
- Performs all Pre-Operative testing (i.e., laboratory work, electrocardiogram, x-rays, etc.)
- Reports all abnormal values to anesthesiologist/attending surgeon
- Explains informed consent for surgery, patients’ rights/responsibilities, and Pre-Operative/postoperative instructions
- Obtains necessary signatures
- Informs patient about routine care and procedures related to the perioperative experience
- Discusses all findings with anesthesiologist prior to anesthesiologist’s Pre-Operative evaluation of patient
- Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and supports the patient’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
- Documents Pre-Operative care according to policy/procedure
- Ensures that the patient’s chart is complete on day before surgery is scheduled
