Responsibilities
- Evaluates patient conditions and assists physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation using sterile techniques.
- Delivers comprehensive patient care as they recover from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients and families in preparation for discharge.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
- Active RN license in the state of Texas.
- BLS and ACLS required (PALS if required by the center).
- 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on nursing judgment.
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills to meet patient and unit needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Skills
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
- Knowledge of perioperative and PACU nursing practices.
- Ability to manage patients under sedation and anesthesia recovery.
- Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and identifying complications.
- Competency in IV therapy, medication administration, and airway management.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years of PACU, PreOp, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with conscious sedation protocols and emergency response.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting is a plus.
