Pre-Op/PACU RN PRN

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient conditions and assists physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation using sterile techniques.
• Delivers comprehensive patient care as they recover from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients and families in preparation for discharge.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state of Texas.
• BLS and ACLS required (PALS if required by the center).
• 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills to meet patient and unit needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required Skills

• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Knowledge of perioperative and PACU nursing practices.
• Ability to manage patients under sedation and anesthesia recovery.
• Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and identifying complications.
• Competency in IV therapy, medication administration, and airway management.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1–2 years of PACU, PreOp, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with conscious sedation protocols and emergency response.
• Experience in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting is a plus.
